Van Lill & Jovner Consulting (VJC) was founded in 2013 when CEO Johan van Lill and GM Suma Jovner, combined their unique skill sets and passion to form a services consulting and project management company, that assists companies to match their CSI budgets to South African education needs.

VJC is a young, dynamic company with a wealth of experience in youth and child teaching and education, particularly in Maths and Science.

We are a creative, innovative and dedicated team with experience in youth and child products, teaching and education (especially in the fields of Maths and Science).

We are the educational consultants and project managers for the Capitec Foundation Bursary Programme for highs school learners.

“The Capitec Bursary was way more than just a programme about money to me, it installs qualities such as working hard, perseverance, a sense of never giving up and be the best you can be.” – Junaid Jaftha, Capitec bursary holder 2012 – 2014

Assisting learners to get the best education by helping them with bursaries and scholarships is a wonderful way of contributing to a better skilled workforce and economic growth in the country.

However, the administration and support required to implement a bursary or scholarship programme can be tedious and requires special skills.  VJC is uniquely placed to offer these services which includes:

  • Recruitment, application and sifting.
  • Interviews and vetting of applicants.
  • Academic support for learners in the form of tutoring/extra classes and holiday programmes.
  • Parent programmes to create a supportive environment at home.
  • Teacher programmes to provide additional training and/or resources in support of the bursary holder.

VJC has over 20 years’ experience as educational consultants to major companies in South Africa and is well known in the field of educational events for the past 10 years.

With over 40 years combined experience in education, VJC can provide expert advice to assist children, adolescents, high school students, college students, teachers, parents and adults to support their intellectual, academic and emotional aspirations and guide each individual to reach education and life goals.

Extra classes and tutoring are a necessity rather than a luxury and managing tutoring programmes for high school learners is another service offered by VJC.

Maths Extra classes on Saturdays:

  • Learners are placed in groups of not more than 25 per class.
  • Lessons are spread over 18 weeks during term times.
  • Lessons are pre-determined, based on the work that learners struggle with most.
  • Lessons start with a pre-test to determine learners’ knowledge of the given day’s topic. This is followed by extra class instruction that focuses solely on what learners struggle with rather than the known content.

Mentoring:

In order to ensure that tutoring is successful, VJC established a mentor programme where retired educators, such as lecturers and teachers sit in on classes and give guided feedback to tutors afterwards.

Holiday programmes:

  • intensive tutoring and working through past exam papers take place over school holidays, along with with various life skills programmes, such as
  • financial skills building
  • career guidance
  • preparation of CV’s/interviews
  • special interest projects, such as, the Bloodhound visiting holiday programme

Have limited time but need to reach as many audience members as possible? VJC has developed an education interactive exhibition called Speed Dating for the Brain.

Speed Dating for the Brain is based on the well-known speed dating concept where a bell marks the time and a person moves from table to table engaging or interacting with someone else.

However, for the purpose of the education exhibition, the engagement or interaction is with a concept or experiment.

Booth acitivities are based on the theme of the exhibition and each activity carries a specific message and learning experience.

The concept allows one to engage with the general public in a non invasive way and the fun element gets general public engaged quickly.

By incorporating whole brain teaching strategies and content experts, VJC can tailor short-term training courses for your specific needs.

Capitec Foundation Maths Tutor Programme: Training

From sourcing the right keynote speaker to finding a suitable venue, VJC can assist in every aspect of planning and executing conferences and seminars.
